We are an Incorporated Society set up almost 50 years ago to represent the interests of the residents of Mission Bay and Kohimarama. The Association is run by local volunteers, and we have around 400 members.
Our Committee is made up of the following members:
Phone : 521 8904
- provide a collective voice for the residents of Mission Bay and Kohimarama when engaging with agencies responsible for providing local infrastructure, amenities and service;
- promote the advancement, enhancement and protection of the district and its environment and its amenities
To achieve this, we try to keep on top of activities, projects and issues which might significantly impact our community. For minor issues, we might comment directly on behalf of the community. For larger issues, we will generally go out to our members or in some cases to the wider community through public meetings to explain the situation and canvas their opinions. We will then advocate on the community's behalf. Recent examples range from offering support to the Orakei Local Board for the installation of security cameras in Selwyn Reserve to try to improve the security in the park overnight, through to a major excercise to improve the final outcome of the Unitary Plan process. This latter example took a large amount of effort and involved public meetings and appearances before Auckland Council, before we finally achieved a sensible way forward.
The more feedback on issues, concerns or even encouragement we get from you, the residents of Mission Bay and Kohimarama, the more effective we can be, so please let us know what's on your mind.
