Ngapipi Bridge widening

Auckland Transport is proposing to widen the Ngapipi Bridge on Tamaki Drive to accommodate future needs of motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.
You can see details of the plan here. We like the idea of widening the bridge as this will provide more space to be able to improve the experience for all users. We did, however, question why a new cycle lane needed to be built on the southern side of the bridge as well as the northern side, as we feel that AT should be trying to encourage cyclists to use the new cycle path on the north rather than cross the bridge on a cycle path on the southern side that redirects them back onto the road just a few metres later. Here is our submission. |
