Proposed bus lane Kohimarama Rd

AT has proposed creating a bus lane on the city-bound side of Kohimarama Rd. They plan to remove the painted median strip in the middle of the road to create the space for the extra lane.
The bus lane would extend for around 300m between the two ends of Whytehead Crescent. They also propose a new pedestrian crossing near the existing bus stop. Unfortunately, the road would then be 3 lanes wide and their internal rules require crossings on roads with 3 or more lanes to have traffic lights controlling them, so another set of lights. |

In December 2020, we made a submission, indicating that we saw little benefit from the proposal because the bus lane would only be 300m long. We did not like the plan for another set of traffic lights on this road, particularly when AT had not demonstrated any need for a crossing.
