Seat and Tree project
The Selwyn Reserve playground has always been popular with children and families, but was looking tired and worn with use. Orakei Local Board decided to upgrade the playground, replacing the old equipment, changing the layout and type of equipment to make it more appealing to children, and to improve the overall appearance.
We reviewed the initial plans from the designers, but had significant concerns so we worked with them to try to get a better outcome. In particular, we wanted a playground that reflected the Mission Bay setting, and suggested that a climbing tower reminiscent of the Bean Rock lighthouse would tie everything together. The playground has now been completed and has proven very popular with kids while looking great and reflecting Mission Bay's nautical underpinnings. |
